This Privacy Policy explains how NextBite ("NextBite," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, sells, shares, stores, and protects information when you use the NextBite mobile application, website, share extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
NextBite helps users save restaurants, dish ideas, locations, notes, and links or references to food-related content they discover online. NextBite is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, Meta, ByteDance, Google, Apple, or any restaurant, social media platform, map provider, or content platform unless expressly stated.

2. Important Summary
We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the Service, information from your device with your permission, and information from third-party services used to operate the Service.
We may use artificial intelligence and third-party service providers, including OpenAI API, Google/Firebase services, PostHog, Apple services, and map/place data providers, to process links, captions, transcripts, images, screenshots, restaurant information, dish information, location data, and usage data.
We may use, disclose, share, sell, license, commercialize, or otherwise make available information as described in this Privacy Policy, subject to applicable law and required user choices. Where required by law, we will provide notice and the ability to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or tracking.
We may use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information for analytics, product development, business intelligence, advertising, research, restaurant trends, commercial insights, partnerships, or other lawful business purposes.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction.
3. Information We Collect
A. Account and Identity Information
When you create or access an account, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Profile photo, if provided through your login provider
- Authentication identifiers
- Apple, Google, Firebase, or other sign-in identifiers
- Account creation date
- Account settings
- Subscription or purchase status, if subscriptions or paid features are added
- Communications with support
If you sign in through Google, Apple, or another third-party login provider, we receive information according to the permissions you grant and the provider's policies.
B. User Content and Saved Content
When you use NextBite, we may collect and store content and information you submit, save, upload, generate, or ask us to process, including:
- Restaurant names
- Restaurant addresses
- Dish names and dish recommendations
- Restaurant notes
- Saved restaurant lists, folders, tags, and sorting preferences
- URLs and links to original videos, posts, websites, or other online content
- Captions, transcripts, text, metadata, and other information associated with content you submit
- Screenshots, photos, thumbnails, or images you choose to upload or save
- Search queries and prompts
- Processing jobs and extraction results
- Error corrections and manual edits you make
- Any other information you choose to provide
Important: NextBite is designed to save restaurant information, dish notes, and links or references to original content. Unless we expressly state otherwise, NextBite does not claim to own, host, republish, or redistribute third-party videos from TikTok, Instagram, or other platforms.
C. Location Information
With your permission, we may collect location information from your device to:
- Center your map
- Sort restaurants by distance
- Suggest nearby saved restaurants
- Improve location-based app functionality
- Support future features such as reminders near saved restaurants
Location information may include approximate location, precise location, coordinates, map interactions, distance calculations, saved restaurant locations, and location-based search results.
You can deny or revoke location access in your device settings. Some features may not work properly without location access.
Unless clearly disclosed and separately permitted, we do not collect precise device location in the background.
D. Device, Usage, Analytics, and Diagnostics Information
We may collect information about how you access and use the Service, including:
- Device type
- Operating system and version
- App version
- IP address
- Device identifiers, app instance identifiers, and analytics identifiers
- Time zone and general region
- App screens viewed
- Buttons tapped
- Features used
- Links submitted
- Processing success or failure
- Saved restaurant actions
- Search and filtering actions
- Crash logs
- Performance data
- Error logs
- Session data
- Referral and attribution data
- Subscription/paywall interactions, if added
We may collect this through our own systems and through service providers such as Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, PostHog, Apple, and other analytics or diagnostics providers.
E. Third-Party Data and Enrichment Data
To provide the Service, we may receive or generate information from third-party sources, including:
- Google Maps, Google Places, or other map/place providers
- Restaurant websites
- Publicly available webpages
- Social media links or metadata you submit
- Search APIs or enrichment providers
- AI service providers
- App Store, Apple, Google, Firebase, or payment-related systems
- Publicly available business information
This information may include restaurant names, addresses, coordinates, ratings, hours, photos, menus, cuisine types, price ranges, URLs, and similar place-related details. Third-party information may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or subject to separate provider terms.
F. Payment and Subscription Information
The Service is currently free unless otherwise stated. We may add subscriptions, in-app purchases, usage limits, premium tiers, or paid features in the future.
If paid features are added, payment processing may be handled by Apple or another authorized payment provider. We may receive information such as purchase status, subscription status, renewal status, expiration status, refund status, transaction identifiers, and entitlement information. We do not receive full credit card numbers from Apple.
G. Communications
If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, message content, attachments, account identifiers, support history, and related information needed to respond.
H. Sensitive Information
We do not intentionally request sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, financial account numbers, health information, biometric identifiers, precise demographic attributes, or information about race, religion, politics, or sexual orientation. Do not submit sensitive information through the Service.
4. How We Use Information
We may use information for the following purposes:
A. Provide and Operate the Service
- Create and manage accounts
- Authenticate users
- Save restaurants and dish ideas
- Process shared links
- Extract restaurant and dish information
- Display maps, lists, folders, and saved content
- Sync data across devices

B. AI Processing and Automation
We may use OpenAI API and other AI or machine learning services to:
- Analyze submitted links, captions, transcripts, images, screenshots, metadata, and text
- Extract restaurant names, dish names, locations, and recommendations
- Summarize or structure food-related information
- Detect whether content appears restaurant-related
- Improve quality, accuracy, and usability of the Service
AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for verifying restaurant details, hours, addresses, menu items, prices, and recommendations before relying on them.
C. Maps, Location, and Place Information
We may use location and map/place data to:
- Show saved restaurants on a map
- Calculate distance
- Provide directions links
- Display restaurant details
- Enrich saved places
- Improve search and sorting
- Support location-based features
D. Analytics and Product Improvement
We may use information to:
- Understand how users use the Service
- Debug crashes
- Improve performance
- Improve onboarding and activation
- Measure feature usage
- Test and improve product design
- Develop new features
- Conduct internal analytics and research
E. Communications and Notifications
We may use information to:

- Send service, security, or policy updates
- Send optional push notifications you enable

You may disable push notifications in your device settings.

This may include:
- Aggregated or de-identified insights about restaurant trends
- Popular cuisines, cities, restaurants, dishes, or saved content categories
- App usage trends
- Marketing performance data
- Advertising or attribution data
- Audience or segmentation data, where legally permitted
- Data disclosed to analytics, advertising, measurement, or business partners, where legally permitted
Where required by law, we will provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism, honor applicable opt-out requests, and obtain consent where required. See our Do Not Sell or Share page.
If we use data in a way that Apple considers "tracking," we will request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework where required. If you decline tracking permission, we will not use your data for tracking as defined by Apple, although we may still collect and use information for app functionality, security, analytics, diagnostics, and other purposes permitted by Apple and applicable law.
5. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information to the following categories of recipients:

We may disclose information to vendors that help us operate the Service, including:

- Firebase and Google services
- Authentication providers
- Database and storage providers
- Analytics providers such as PostHog

B. Third-Party Platform and Map Providers
When you use links, maps, directions, social sharing, or external integrations, information may be processed by third-party platforms such as Apple, Google, TikTok, Instagram, Meta, ByteDance, or other services according to their own terms and privacy policies.
C. Business and Commercial Partners
Subject to applicable law and user choices, we may disclose, share, sell, license, or otherwise make available certain information to business partners, advertisers, analytics partners, data partners, restaurant partners, or other commercial partners.
D. Legal, Safety, and Enforcement Recipients
We may disclose information if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law, subpoena, court order, or legal process
- Enforce our Terms
- Protect our rights, safety, property, or users
- Investigate fraud, security issues, abuse, or illegal activity
- Respond to government or law enforcement requests
E. Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or transfer of all or part of our business, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction.
F. With Your Direction or Consent
We may disclose information when you direct us to do so, such as when you share content, use a share sheet, connect third-party services, or otherwise authorize disclosure.
6. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
Depending on applicable law, "sale," "sharing," "targeted advertising," and "tracking" may have specific meanings.
We may use or disclose information in ways that could be considered a sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or tracking under certain laws if we introduce advertising, data partnerships, cross-context behavioral advertising, data licensing, measurement, attribution, or similar features.
Where required, we will:
- Provide notice
- Provide opt-out rights
- Honor applicable opt-out signals where required
- Obtain consent where required
- Update App Store privacy disclosures
- Use Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt where required

7. Aggregated, De-Identified, and Anonymized Information
We may create, use, disclose, sell, license, or commercialize aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information for any lawful purpose, including analytics, product development, research, advertising, restaurant trend analysis, business intelligence, partnerships, and commercial insights.
We will not attempt to re-identify de-identified information except as permitted by law, such as to test whether de-identification processes are effective.
8. Cookies, SDKs, Tracking Technologies, and Mobile Identifiers
We and our service providers may use cookies, SDKs, APIs, pixels, mobile identifiers, device identifiers, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember preferences, measure performance, debug errors, prevent fraud, understand usage, improve the Service, and support marketing or advertising if introduced.
You can control some tracking technologies through your browser, device settings, iOS privacy settings, App Tracking Transparency prompts, and other available tools.
9. App Tracking Transparency
If we use your data for tracking as defined by Apple, including linking information collected from the Service with third-party data for advertising or advertising measurement, or sharing information with a data broker, we will request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt where required.
If you do not grant permission, we will not track you as defined by Apple. We may still use data for purposes that do not require ATT permission, such as account functionality, security, analytics, diagnostics, fraud prevention, subscription management, and app improvement, as permitted by Apple and applicable law.
10. Google Maps, Places, and Location Services
The Service may use Google Maps, Google Places, Apple Maps, or other map and location services. Your use of maps, directions, and place information may be subject to those providers' terms and privacy policies.
Map and place data may not be accurate, complete, or current. Restaurant hours, addresses, ratings, menus, prices, and availability may change. Always verify details before visiting, ordering, traveling, or making decisions based on the Service.
11. User Content, Copyright, and Third-Party Content
You are responsible for the content, links, screenshots, photos, notes, and other material you submit to the Service. Do not upload, submit, save, or share content unless you have the legal right to do so or your use is otherwise permitted by law.
NextBite does not claim ownership of third-party content. NextBite is not responsible for content hosted by third-party platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Meta, ByteDance, Google, restaurant websites, or other services.
We may remove or restrict access to content if we believe it violates this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, law, third-party rights, platform policies, or our operational requirements.

12. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, maintain security, and support legitimate business operations.
Retention periods may vary by data type. For example:
- Account data may be retained while your account is active.
- Saved restaurants, links, notes, folders, and uploaded content may be retained until deleted by you or your account is deleted.
- Analytics and diagnostic data may be retained according to our analytics providers' retention settings.
- Server logs, backups, fraud-prevention records, and legal records may be retained for longer periods where necessary.
- De-identified or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely where permitted by law.
13. Account Deletion
If you create an account, you may initiate account deletion in the app through Settings → Delete Account, or contact us at nextbitesupport@gmail.com if you need help. See Delete Account for instructions.
When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account unless we need to retain it for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, dispute-resolution, backup, or compliance purposes.
Deletion may not immediately remove information from encrypted backups, logs, analytics systems, or third-party systems, but we will handle such information according to our retention practices and applicable law.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or cloud data.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share
- Access personal information
- Correct personal information
- Delete personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Opt out of targeted advertising
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable
- Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent
- Receive a copy of certain data in a portable format
- Appeal a denied privacy request, where required
- Not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights

15. California Privacy Notice
This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to us.

- Internet or electronic network activity, such as app usage, saved links, search activity, and interaction data
- Geolocation data, such as device location if permitted and saved restaurant locations

Sources of personal information include you, your device, service providers, login providers, map/place providers, public sources, third-party APIs, and content or links you submit.
We may use these categories for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
We may disclose these categories to service providers, contractors, analytics providers, AI providers, map/place providers, payment providers, business partners, legal recipients, and successors in business transactions.
We may sell or share personal information, or use information for targeted advertising, if we introduce data monetization, advertising, measurement, or partnership features. Where required, you may opt out through a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link or other mechanism we provide.
We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16.
16. European, UK, and International Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, we process personal information using legal bases such as:
- Performance of a contract
- Consent
- Legitimate interests
- Compliance with legal obligations
Our legitimate interests may include operating and improving the Service, securing the Service, preventing fraud, understanding usage, developing features, and supporting business operations.
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
17. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, apps, maps, restaurants, delivery services, reservation services, social media platforms, or other services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, security, availability, accuracy, or policies of third parties.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new "Last Updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice, such as in-app notice or email, where appropriate or required.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated Privacy Policy means you acknowledge the updated policy.
